INITIALIZE
Welcome to the June issue of Aural Fix Communique!
For all of you that invited me to your shows over Memorial Day Weekend, I apologize for not making it out. Although I love you all, I decided your shows were not a holiday destination for me this year. Those of you who are self employed will understand.
I know I promised a 24 pager for May, but my schedule didn't allow for it (I'm the one that does all the heavy lifting here), so we'll all have to deal with a 16 pager again. This working two-three jobs thing doesn't sit well with me - I liked it better when I was sleeping in until noon collecting my severance checks! Yeah, the party is over, need to make a living again....
So that being said, put a friggin' ad in already, so I don't have to go out and get a real job! Rates are affordable and we also have swell radio packages that tie into RadioX (email sales@auralfix.com for details).
Besides putting ads into Aural Fix (which you should do as a matter of course!), here at Aural Island Media we offer a plethora of design and multimedia services. I pulled a 15 year stint doing graphic design at a big corporate manufacturer - I do it all and do it well: 4/C collateral. catalogs, packaging, Powerpoint presentations, some web work, and audio and video editing. Hell, I pump out this magazine in a weekend -Ębring it on!
On another note, I also give martial arts lessons: Karate, Judo, Ju-Jitsu and Self Defense. One-on-One 1- Hour Lessons in your own home for $45 per session. Add a friend/family member and it goes down to $35 per person. Family of four for $25 each. No contracts, pay as you go. Evening hours and weekends at this time only.
Reign of Angels join their good friends The Basals at a show Saturday June 24th at McCoy's in Commack. Log onto myspace.com/reignofangels for all the details.
Joann Gullo, publisher of The Inside Connection and myself host a radio show called "The Indie Connection" on RadioX (www.radiox.fm) every Friday from 8-10pm.
I'm still looking for the right sales person. Should be someone who loves music, has sales experience, wants flexible hours and likes to work independently. Email your resume to sales@auralfix.com for consideration.
Next issue is the Americana issue, so if you play Americana, Blues, Folk, we'd like to know what you're up to.
